    Only fair every kids get to experience theseNot quite how I remember, but still fun to play with for toddlers. The tin can had to go, two toddlers the banging was a bit much. I didn't recall the small pieces from my childhood, but they are definitely choking hazards 3+ is a good recommendation. We hid all the small pieces so building is rather limited for now. I feel once we can let them have the whole set these will be a huge hit. For now though, magnetic tiles are our goto. Hope this was helpful 4Good rroduct, but make sure you know how many of each blocks are in the tin!The product is good, but I was surprised how few of the bigger blocks there are in this set (my fault, I should have looked more carefully before I ordered). Most of the blocks in this set are the tiny connector blocks. I purchased two sets (one is a little smaller than this one) and I think both sets of Lincoln Logs will fit into this one tin. 4Total rip-offDon't even bother, a total rip-off on Lincoln logs--more than half of the 111 pieces are the 2" dead joiners. There exactly four pieces that span more than 4 inches. Your kid can build almost nothing with this . It stands though as a brilliant example of how cheap and shamelessly cynical American capitalism has become. This is a careful, deliberate rip off so of course Amazon features it. Don't be a sucker. If you can't make your own, figure out how to rip this off from them. Then let everybody else know how you did it! 1which was fun. They are every bit as amazing as I ...My wife gave this to me (age 33) as a Christmas present as part of a theme of "things we always wanted as kids but never got", which was fun. They are every bit as amazing as I always thought they would be, and you can use them to build great tunnels for your Lego train that is taking up your entire living room floor. 5Great quality and fun, but limited if you don't buy additional setsI got this set for my 4.5 year old son, and it was a great buy. The logs are made of solid, durable wood, and he can easily stack them. He still has trouble following the instructions (I have to explain him where each of the logs go), but once I give him directions he has no problems.I did find the basic set to be a little limited (111 logs), so I have also got him the two cottages LINCOLN LOGS - Lake Union Lodge - 88 Pieces - Ages 3+ - Preschool Educational Toy and LINCOLN LOGS - Oak Creek Lodge - 137 Pieces - Ages 3+ Preschool Education Toy. The tin is very big, so I can fit the pieces for the three sets inside it, which is nice for easy storage.I leave a couple of pictures of our constructions. Note that the Pokemon are not included! :) 5These Aren't Quite Like the Original Ones but They are Still Worth Owning!Now that my twins have turned three, it's been a lot of fun buying toys that my husband and I used to have growing up. For their third birthday, my husband absolutely wanted to get our kids Lincoln Logs because they were his favorite toy as a kid and something that he wanted our kids to have. I never had Lincoln Logs so this is my first experience with them. There are so many sets of Lincoln Logs out there but I loved the idea of having a tin to store them in so we ordered the 100th anniversary set.This set includes 111 pieces in a tin that measures about 11 1/2 inches tall. I've included a picture of one of each piece so you can see what is included in the set. Here are the quantities and measurements of each different piece:1 - 4" red roof front with "Lincoln Logs" printed on it1 - 4" red roof back1 - 1 1/2" red chimney58 - 1 1/2" logs13 - 4 1/2" logs cut in half lengthwise19 - 4 1/2" logs4 - 10 1/2" logs12 - 4 1/2" green logs cut in half lengthwise2 - 4 1/2" green pieces for the roofThese logs are made of real wood in the USA and come with an instruction sheet that shows how to make a log cabin and of course, you can create your own. Even with 111 pieces, they still only fill up about half the tin so you could definitely buy more to add to it.The one thing my husband first noticed is that these aren't like the ones he had growing up in the 80s. They seem more lightweight so the wood used to make them probably isn't as good of quality as they used to be but so far, they still seem to be fairly durable and nicely-made. Like all wooden toys, they have a slight smell that could either be the wood or the paint used but it isn't too strong. My kids haven't built too much with them so far and I think the logs may be slightly too advanced for them at this point since my kids just turned three but they should grow into them. I even have fun using them since I never had them and this will be a fun activity for our family to do together!Overall, I think Lincoln Logs are a good toy for young children to have and this set includes a lot of pieces to get you started. It's nice to have a tin to store them in too. The price seems fairly reasonable for wood toys and, once my kids start using these a lot, we will most likely purchase some of the other sets to make more buildings. We definitely recommend this set if you have young children who like to build! 4My grandson loves this--and so do I.My 5-year old grandson loves this set. The pieces are smoother than they were when I was a kid. Very nice quality. My grandson loves building with these. Took him about 15 minutes to catch on to the concept and he can sit and build one masterpiece after another for hours of entertainment. 5Great quality Logs. The set composition and amount of logs are underwhelmingI grew up playing on my grandparent s set of Lincoln Logs that were a well rounded set with pieces that were interlocking and most would stick together when fastened. This last point is crucial for fencing in your log cabin with upright 1s and longer pieces. With no way to build fencing, or fencing that doesn t topple over, my daughter s cabins are subject to wolves, mountain lions, and other varmints that can walk right in through the wide open cabin door space or crawl in through the window space. When Kinex bought LL they clearly weren t thinking about cabin security when they started mass producing these perfectly uniform pieces.Fencing problems aside, this set doesn t contain typical 3 slotted logs. You have your 1s, 2s, and long 4s, but the 3s are mysteriously absent. My daughter s imagination will be limited to long ranch style home cabins, or short shack cabins, and I m concerned with her current architectural course offerings without the crucial 3s to build double wide style cabins or oversized yuppie ski town cabins and timeshares.And don t get me started on the roofing limitations. There s no way we re gonna survive winter in the mountains with all these sun rooms being built due to size 2 shingles. It s grossly inefficient from a home heating perspective to have so much open and exposed space in the floor plan, and besides, no one wants to shovel those exposed areas in the dead of winter.What I m saying is the tin is about 1/3 full of logs and they skimped to make a few bucks off a child s toy that was perfected a lifetime ago. Kinex could have filled the cereal box with a lot more cereal than they did. 3Poor log varietyYour actually paying for a decorative tin with many small logs. I was quite disappointed in this set. There are better sets available , that are actually less money with more / better pieces. 1What A Rip-off!What a rip-off! At our house, our 3 year old grandson LOVES playing with the Lincoln Logs set which his dad had as a kid, so we got him his own set for a birthday gift to have at home. I opened it and admired the enormous tin. For $40, I expected this tin to be chock-full of Lincoln logs. Instead, I was stunned upon removing the lid to find four 10.5" logs and two plastic bags containing smaller pieces. The tin stands nearly a foot tall and is 10" in diameter. The contents (not including the four longer pieces) come up only about 2.5" in the tin.I would be totally embarrassed to give this as a gift. It's like the gift is the TIN!. I am going to keep it and go to Walmart or someplace and get some more logs to supplement it. Beware to be disappointed if you're buying this. 1
