Customer Reviews

Fantastic: Playful Mind Control! This was the hit of the holidays (and at the currently reduced price, it is a STEAL!)After reading some of the negative reviews, this was studier than expected, and the game options work well for both single player and dual player fun. Be sure to check out the instructions for how to reduce the volume level. (The default volume is too loud.)It's amazing to see how different mental states can raise and lower the ball, or push the ball back and forth horizontally. And as others have said, playing with two is fantastic because not only do you need to concentrate yourself, but you can play around with ways to distract your opponent at the same time. Just too fun!It is really interesting to see how your mind can be used to play this game, and one of my kids would add that you can only play for so long because it's hard work to concentrate!GAME PLAYThe game "board" is made up of a horizontal track, and along the track travels an air jet which suspends a 1" inch blue ball with a stream of forced air. You wear a headband which captures information about your mental state, and the game translates that into more or less power to the air jet to raise and lower the ball. Depending on the game mode, the air jet then travels back and forth across the board. You can attach various pieces to the game board through which you then try and maneuver the blue ball by changing height and traveling horizontally across the board. With two players, you can "push" each other back and forth with your minds. It's like mental jousting.NOTEThis really does require some control over mental states and you get better with practice; the first few minutes or so can be rather confusing because you've probably not done anything like this before. The practice mode in the game really does help, or at least we found it helpful.Hope this helps with your decision making. 5Brain powerThis is so fun- I think most people want to move things with their mind. So the chip just looks for focus power, which controls the power of a fan that floats the ball through the course. So it's not really a scientific wonder. But it is fun to challenge your friends to brain battles and ball launchings and if you have a board games shelf this is a VERY worth addition.Learning how to focus how it wants you to is a little hard. I still don't really understand what it wants. But I have neurological disorders, so It's difficult for me anyway. It seems to also work when I get mad or intense about something. If I start ranting that ball goes crazy. It's also hard for kids with ADD or ADHD to get a hang of, but once they do, the skill pays off.But if you suffer from chronic migraines, I don't recommend using it much. 'fraid it sets my migraines off, trying to use it. What was family game night turned into "lets watch kids movies QUIETLY in the dark" to try to quell my migraine. 4We had a blast! We had a blast. I know there are lots of things online saying it's fake, but it sure seems real. If I meditate I can get the ball to completely stop moving. I don't know for sure. We played with it for a couple of hours and it sure seemed like it was legit. It was fun either way. Especially the photos my sister took of everyone's concentration face. It is weird how you contort your face when you are trying to move a ball with your mind.I also wanted to add that it is surprisingly quiet and seems to be solid manufacturing. We didn't use very many of the obstacles yet, but we did put them on to make sure they fit. A couple of them were weird to put on but the did go on and stayed securely. I forgot that the light was out on the second players headset but it still seemed to work. I can't seem to figure out how change the star rating for the light not working. 51) Awesome, it will blow your mindWhat can i expect after a long wait that turn out really a worthy one :) Really i was worried a lot after reviewing few negative comments about this game. let me give my feedback.Pros:1) Awesome, it will blow your mind.2) lots of game modes for single player, in which you don't have to operate the up and down button manually.3)Dual games are more interesting and you will really love it.Cons:1) its takes 4 C batteries to the Main device and 6 AAA for the headsets i.e 3 for each .2)You will wonder how you need to carry it around, once you unpack everything from the box :|Note:you have to control your nerve when you play the games for first time, as the gauge may not move as what you might have expected before playing it. so i would say please tune up to the game and soon you will find refreshing after you play the game.Worth for Money, i would request Mattel Games to release better version of this game in forth coming days, so that people like me would buy and enjoy the science behind it :) 5Toy but not much moreWas fun to HACK and I connect the Mindflex EEG to my Arduino to play around but did not find this to be a lasting 'toy'. My kids (10yrs +) only used it for about 20 mins before getting board since they didn't feel they actually had any real 'control'. It hasn't come out of the box after the first usage.I have since also bought a Muse EEG which has more sensor but cost much more.Once I connected to Arduino + PC - I was able to see that it did in fact show information based on some brain activity but 90% of the reading was based on muscle motion and other brain activity was limited impact on the EEG. 2It's hard to review this object so poorly because I love it so muchOh boy, mindflex duel. It's hard to review this object so poorly because I love it so much, but I'll try to sum up:The "game" is baffling. Nobody knows why it moves the way it does or if it's just a trick/gimmick and it isn't actually at all reading "brain waves". Think hard, or sing or not think at all, someone will win, and sometimes it's exciting. Most of the times, the game ends in a landslide. My friends and I absolutely love it as an alternative to playing rock-paper-scissors, and definitely more so while we're drinking. For us, it's a cheap gimmick that decides a "winner" between two players, almost at random, but provides a good show and reason to drink. 2Too noisy for me but husband loves itI've only played this once but found the music way too loud, even turned down to the lowest setting. My husband, however, loves it because it helps him to focus better. He insists the music should be loud so you can overcome the distraction. I feel it would be better if the volume could be muted for those who don't want the frantic music playing whenever the game is on. It would be a little too noisy to play at night if you have close neighbors like we do.That aside, this game does help one to focus. You have to work on your breathing while playing but also use your mind/imagination to move the ball. I noticed if I didn't relax and stay focused the ball would stop moving. Is it the most fun game I've played? No, but I haven't given it a fair chance yet.Husband uses it at least once a day.Others have said you need to use your hands to make the ball progress but that isn't true. Both my husband and I can make the ball move forward without touching the game console. The game comes with plastic pieces that attach to the console creating mazes/obstacles for the ball to travel through. The pieces seem a bit flimsy but so far, nothing has broken. We haven't allowed small children to play with the game so perhaps that is why it is still in good shape but I can see how careless handling would probably lead to breakage. 4Not sure how it works...Not sure how it works but it's still fun to battle with the kids. We take it out every now and get our mind battles on but it's easy to tire of the game from concentrating on trying to make that ball float (or in my case, I try to think of nothing since that works better for me). We haven't mastered the game (if that's even possible for us) but it's definitely unique and gets everyone in the house down to the table to try to prove their brain wave control. This one that I bought through Amazon is actually for a friend since we've had ours since Christmas. I read that it's a good way to help kids calm down and learn to concentrate. If anything, it will at least keep them focused for 30 minutes! :) 4This is not for the impatientWe love this game. Bought it for Christmas and have played it many times with family and friends. It really does work, BUT you have to take it seriously and it does require concentration. Also, do not underestimate the importance of wearing the headband correctly.Several people who have tried this in duel-mode had no success at first and they got discouraged and dismissed the whole thing as a trick. After they did the basic solo challenge and figured out what to concentrate on (or what NOT to concentrate on!, they were able to control it better and did much better in the duels. This is how you can tell the product works. This is not for everyone and it takes some practice and intelligence to understand what you're doing and how to set things up.I took off a star because they really should make it easier to choose the mode and the volume level. A display or a row of LEDs would be easier to understand than listening to the voice announce what game you are playing. Same with the volume--how about a simple dial?Anyway, we love it and I am confident that most others who have not had a good experience have not been patient enough or understood how to set the game up correctly. 4Brain PowerThis was a Christmas gift for the family. The menu and volume are controlled with the same buttons and it is a little confusing initially. The head band is easily adjusted and a clip is placed on your ear.The game is all about staying focused. My wife likes to count by 10 or do math problems. I focus on the ball and concentrate on he texture or visualize the airflow around the ball. The kids(6,8,10,13 yo) prefer a "CRUSH EM CRUSH EM" montra. Don't laugh or your concentration will be broken. There are several games where you race against the clock an make it even harder with the maze pieces. Or go head to head against an oponent. The game is durable but the maze pieces are thin plastic and could be broken by small children.I highly reccommend this futuristic game. There must be some mental benefit to concentration and focus required, although you dont have to be smart to play. 5
